Facilitator: Glynn Bishop, President of the Botanical Art Society of NL
Location: 4th Floor Arts and Culture Centre, St. John’s
Workshop Overview:
In this workshop we will look at basic drawing first. Line, value, shadows/lighting, spaces (positive and negative) all play a part in the making of a good working drawing which can be turned into a watercolour painting. We will be mixing the basic colours to match the subject, and then go through the watercolour process.
Biography: Glynn is inspired by whatever he sees that has natural history. Having drawn all his life, he began painting in oils in 1975, painted acrylic murals and faux finishes during the 80’s and 90’s and moved on to chalk pastel in 2005, before changing to watercolour, which he still continues to learn. Glynn has carved stone and wood, sculpted clay mushrooms, and made wooden toys and furniture and is thus a multi-disciplinary artist. He has exhibited, expanded his training and experience, and has presented numerous workshops of his own. Glynn is very active with the Botanical Art Society of Newfoundland and Labrador.
