Robert Thompson
I am inspired by the streetscapes of St. John’s, my hometown, and the landscapes and architecture of the Bonavista Peninsula, where I spend considerable time each year. My primary medium is watercolour, and I also use acrylics. My goal is to tell authentic and relatable stories. I was honoured to be selected as one of the winners of the 2025 Provincial Arts and Letters Awards Program under the “Confederation 75” theme. My piece, “Tragedy of the Commons”, makes a statement about the devastation of the rural economy due to poor management of the fishery during the 75 years since Confederation.
