Facilitator: Elizabeth Piercy Parsons
Location: 4th Floor Arts and Culture Centre, St. John’s
Workshop Overview:
The workshop will include instruction and practice in traditional strokes, such as C, and S, the impact of using different brush shapes on the result, as well as scrollwork, floating and shading. Worksheets will be provided. There will be discussion of how these can be used in the painting practice. After initial instruction, participants will create a landscape scene.
Biography: Elizabeth began acrylic painting in approximately 1986, and took lessons in folk art in Germany, where she lived at the time. An excellent instructor began the course with clear instructions in brush care, acrylics and brush strokes. Having returned to Newfoundland, Elizabeth attended workshops in Watercolour, and then Oil Painting, through the St. John’s fall activity guide.
Elizabeth is a certified Interior Decorator and as an architectural drafts person she has enjoyed painting home portraits. It is always a joy to surprise people with a personal gift. Her favourite medium is Watercolour with Acrylic as second, for a more serious work. Oil painting is a work in progress and very promising.
Elizabeth's art has been shown in markets a few times and she sells on FB Marketplace. She has recently submitted pieces to auction.
